The first Sport Relief Mile event in Haverhill has been hailed a huge success.
The town played host to one of the charity events for the first time this year and over 200 people pulled on their running shoes to take part.
The Sport Relief Miles were held in locations all over the UK. Participants could get involved by running, walking or jogging the one, three and six-mile routes.
The Haverhill event was organised by Haverhill Running Club in partnership with Abbeycroft Leisure. The routes began at the Haverhill Leisure Centre and took runners past the cinema complex and cricket club and then along the railway walk before returning to the centre.
Organiser Trevor Bunch, from the running club, said he was thrilled with the turnout. He said 200 places were booked up in advance and another 40 fundraisers turned up to join in on the day.
He added that although there had been Sport Relief Miles held in the past by schools in the town, this was the first time an event had been organised for the whole community. Many families were among those who took part.
The money raised is used by Sport Relief to help poor and vulnerable people in the UK and around the world. It is not yet known exactly how much the Haverhill event raised.
Haverhill Leisure Centre organised a host of other activities throughout the day, including racket sports, basketball, football and laser blast events for children to take part in.
