Musicians get ready for festival

Local musicians are practising hard after winning a slot in a music festival.

The line-up for the Rock in the Priory event in Ware has been announced after a series of auditions by local bands and singers.

A total of 15 acts have been chosen to perform at the festival on July 29.

Band Kastaphor is among those to have been picked. Singer Emma Bentley, 32, said: “We’re chuffed to bits. We’re really pleased we’ve got the opportunity to do this and we’re really looking forward to it.

“I heard about it last year and how it was a great day out. It was something I thought we could look into for this year and luckily for us, we got through.

“We love playing live to a crowd. There’s no other buzz like it. We really enjoy it and a good reaction gives you such a boost. I don’t think we’ve had any negative experiences so far, which is good going.”

Rock in the Priory is organised by Ware Town Council and sponsored by town music store Playsomething.

Other acts due to feature in the festival are Two 10, Playsomething, Hannah-Marie, Three Day Weekend, Suburban Dirts, The Mynd Set, Paso Says Smile, Joan of Arc and The Paul Harper Band

Acoustic music will also be played between set changes by Dodo Bones, The Belaitis Brothers with Chloe Turner, Griffin & Perry and The Finger Choppers.

The event will take place at Ware Priory on July 29 and tickets will be available from the Priory and Playsomething from July 7. They cost £5 per adult and £2 per child. It attracts around 3,000 visitors every year.
