School reunion is international affair

Pensioners are travelling from all over the world to attend a high school reunion.

The event is being organised by former pupils of Kidderminster High School for Girls.

Members of the school’s class of 1964 are being invited to attend the event, which will take place in Bewdley in October.

Organisers have already managed to find 48 former pupils and are still hunting for more. They have had replies from people living all over the world, including Miami and Indonesia, who are planning to travel to the town for the gathering.

Ann Hunt, Jane Yarwood and Katrina Hudson are among the group of women who are organising the occasion. The classmates last held a reunion 30 years ago in 1982.

Mrs Hunt said: “The last class of ‘64 reunion was held at the river boat back in 1982 when we were nearing our 30th birthdays. We were still young enough to shop in trendy boutiques, Prince William was born and Argentina invaded the Falklands.

“Many of us agreed at the time it would be a great idea to hold our next reunion when we were all in our 60th year. Everybody thought I was joking when I said it but we are doing it. How quickly the 30 years has flown by.

“We are really looking forward to seeing as many people as possible and everyone is getting very excited.

“I hope people will come and catch up with old friends who they may have lost contact with over the years and reminisce about the good old days.”
