Children to get new school

Children in Lincoln are set to get a new primary school on an old football training ground. Lincolnshire County Council has announced plans to build a school for 210 children at the former Lincoln City FC training ground at Carlton Boulevard.

Pub of the year – again

Lincoln pub The Strugglers Inn has won a pub of the year award for the second time. The pub, in Westgate, has been given the title by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) for the second time in just three years. The pub prides itself on serving a variety of different ales from all over the UK.

It was lights, camera, action for city councillors as they took part in a recent meeting. Cameras were invited in to film Lincoln City Council for the first time during its full meeting in March.

Street gets award and poem

A street in Lincoln now has its own poem after winning a national award. Steep Hill, in the city centre, won the Green Street Award 2012 after beating off competition from Cockburn Street in Edinburgh and Byres Road in Glasgow.

Residents chosen to carry Olympic Flame

A 75-year-old athlete and a volunteer who helps young people have been chosen to carry the Olympic Torch through Lincoln. The two people were chosen by Lincoln City Council for the honour of carrying the torch on a leg of its journey on June 27 and 28.
