The market town of Newmarket is in with a chance of having the Olympic Flame passing through as it goes across the region on its way to London in July of next year.
It has already been confirmed that Ipswich and Cambridge are two of the main destinations that will host the flame as it goes across East Anglia. Other places the flame will visit will be announced in another announcement later in the year.
Newmarket has as good a chance as any place of being on the route.
Newmarket’s county councillor, Lisa Chambers, said she would do everything she could to get the symbol of the Games to Newmarket: the global capital of horseracing.
