Pinocchio Production

This holiday season, the Oldham Children’s Theatre is putting on a production of the well-loved children’s story Pinocchio, which tells the adventures of a puppet that is carved by carpenter Geppetto. Thepuppet, however, comes to life when a magic fairy called blue fairy casts a spell, but he willbecome a real boy if he proves himself worthy and honest. The story of the puppet, whose nose becomes bigger each time he tells a lie, will be shown at the Civic Hall in Uppermill.

Oldham Great-Grandmother is Olympic Torch Bearer

Fitness enthusiast, Muriel Brown, has been given a birthday present to remember. The great-grandmother from the village of Uppermill in Saddleworth, Oldham has been chosen to carry the Olympic torch. Muriel was told the exciting news that she was to fulfil her dream of brandishing the iconic flame during her 81st birthday celebrations.
