A planning application submitted to council bosses could see vulnerable families benefit from an extra 22 new homes in Meldreth near Royston. The plan, which was submitted by Jephson Homes Housing Association, would see 22 affordable houses and bungalows, including two, three and four-bedroom homes, built in Whitecroft Road.

Tigers given meaty present

There was a lovely surprise for a pair of tigers at Shepreth Wildlife Park near Royston when Santa visited them with the gift of 75kg of meat. The tigers, Amber and Rana, who are both 13, certainly did not miss out at Christmas.  They had to wrestle their way into some brightly gift-wrapped presents which were placed around their enclosure on Christmas Eve by their keeper elves.

Pupil Sees Logo In Print

Artistic pupil Hannah Ward has seen her artwork in print after winning a competition to design a logo for the town council. Hannah, a pupil from Meridian School, Royston, won the Royston Town Council competition to design a logo for its 2012 Year of Celebrations. Her school was given a prize of £200 to buy sports equipment.
