Teacher wins praise for German passion
Samantha Webster, a German teacher at Watford Grammar School for Boys, has been shortlisted for a national award for her work making German lessons fun for her students. The teacher, who lived in Austria for ten years, believes that fun is the key to learning a language and encourages all of her pupils to speak German at all times, regardless of their ability.

Watford Community Housing Trust has worked with agencies including the Hertfordshire Police on a scheme that aims to help members of the community feel safer in their own homes. The Partnership Protected Areas (PPA) Project won the National Housing Federation ‘What We Are Proud Of’ Award.

A national award for excellent “patient experience” has been given to the NHS trust that runs Watford General Hospital. The West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust started the “Going for Gold” campaign to help staff “deliver a gold standard level of care to patients”.
