£4,000 donation after saving crash motorcyclist’s life

Magpas medical charity has been presented with a cheque for £4,000 due to the incredible fundraising efforts of Louise Bocking and Barry Stratford.

Louise and Barry cycled 600km from Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire to Edinburgh Castle to raise money for the charity that is close to Louise’s heart; they saved the life of her husband David.

David was involved in a severe motorcycle accident in 1996 which made him fly off his bike and land in a ditch. Since the accident, Davis has had his leg and hip rebuilt and he is now able to walk again.

David, Louise and Barry were thrilled to present a cheque for £4,044 to the Magpas Helimedix team, but they were especially pleased to give the money to former Magpas doctor Howard Sherriff who was the man who saved David’s life.

David said: “Meeting Howard Sherriff highlights just how important Magpas has been over the past 40 years. It does make me wonder what would happen if the team at Magpas weren’t there for seriously ill people. I am so grateful to the charity for everything it does, I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for Howard.”

Barry said: “It’s just been an amazing experience. Meeting the Helimedix team and Howard contextualises everything we’re doing.”

Louise is now aiming to raise £10,000 in the future for Magpas.
