Residents should start to see their surroundings improve with the help of a new Action Station in Cannock.
Cannock Chase Council has joined forces with Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to launch the Action Station hut at St Luke’s Church car park in Cannock.
It will open every Sunday between 9am and 4pm and will give residents a chance to find out what is going on and get involved in initiatives.
Drop-in sessions will take place at the hut and it will be the central point for clean-up operations in the town.
A Community Payback team will operate from the centre and will organise litter clearing, cleaning up graffiti and dealing with any other environmental issues that residents have.
The Action Station will later move to other parts of the district that would benefit from a clean up.
Cllr Janos Toth, deputy leader of Cannock Chase Council and responsible for the environment, said: “The Action Station is a valuable asset for partners in helping to improve the local environment. The clean-up initiatives aim to encourage local people to work with us to make improvements to their area. By working with our partners and local residents, we can make a real difference. I urge people to come along and see the Action Station for themselves.”
Chief Inspector, Carl Ratcliffe, of Staffordshire Police, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to work proactively in the community with our partners addressing community issues, and I would encourage people to come and visit us and see the work being undertaken.”
Cannock local policing team Sergeant Maurice Annett, who helped set the project up, said: “ Local people should notice real improvements in their community as a result of the Action Station.”
