Charity grateful for accountants donations

Accountants in Chester have been thanked for giving £3,600 to two charities.
Accountancy firm Champion presented cheques to BIRD (Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Development) and the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Backford.

Staff at the Watergate Row branch of the firm of Chester accountants had also given a further £1,800 to national charity Help for Heroes.

Hospice fundraising and marketing manager Amanda Le Bretton, said: “What a wonderful achievement from Champion Accountants.  We are absolutely delighted.

“Their donation will go towards our specialised services at the centre of excellence in Backford.”

The money was raised through Champion’s ‘40 for 40 Fundraiser’, which was a yearlong fundraising effort to raise £40,000 for charity to mark the firm’s 40th anniversary.

As part of the fundraising effort, Champion staged the ‘Champion Century Cycle Challenge’: a 100-mile cycle ride that went to each of the five Champion offices in a single day.  This raised more than £22,000 towards the ’40 for 40 Fundraiser’ total.

Chester staff Mike Jackson, Paulette Thomas, Andrew Hopwood and Ben Murray took part in the bike ride and between them raised over £3,000.
