Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research money raised by Little Sutton solicitor

Julie Sillito, a lawyer with Riverview Solicitors in Chester has raised nearly £400 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Julie started fundraising after her friend was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The charity works to find better treatments and cures for all blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.

29 year old Julie walked the Wirral Coastal Walk on Sunday 27th May after being inspired by her friend Jane Allison was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Julie said: “Jane was very fit and a keen runner, and it’s been a shock to everyone who knows her how ill she has become.

“I want to raise money for research so that more people can get an earlier diagnosis and treated sooner, and ultimately end up in remission.

“Unfortunately Jane wasn’t well enough to join me on Sunday after receiving her latest round of chemotherapy. But some of my work colleagues were able to come along for parts of the walk and I know Jane was cheering me on from home. It really meant a lot to have their support.”

Julie started her walk at Seacombe Ferry and finished at Thurstaton Country Park. During her walk she enjoyed breathtaking views of the River Mersey, the Irish Sea and the River Dee.

Head of sports events at Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research, Dan Solley, said “Walking is a great way for people of all ages to help raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Every penny raised will be invested in research that is finding better treatments for patients with all blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.”
