Role in Youth Music Voices choir for Bethia Coates

A singer from Chester has been given the chance to show off her singing talents to her majesty the Queen during her Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

19 year old Bethia Coates beat hundreds of other singers and secured herself a place in the 100-strong Youth Music Voices choir.

Bethia, who is a former pupil at Bishops’ Blue Coat CE High School will sing on the main stage at the Hyde Park Jubilee Festival on 2nd and 3rd June.

She said: “I love every minute of rehearsing and performing. It’s such a great opportunity to work with a brilliant team and amazing artists.”

The choir has performed at many prestigious venues including the House of Lords. They will also be performing at the Royal Opera House and at The BT River of Music events as part of the London 2012 Festival.

The Youth Music Voices choir also accompanied leading tenor Alfie Boe and Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh at a gala dinner at The Royal Albert Hall. The dinner was to launch the official single for Team GB, One Vision.

Bethia said: “It was fantastic to be on stage and exciting to know that it will be heard and enjoyed by millions of people.”

Bethia is currently on her gap year and is an active member of St Michael’s Church in Newton. She is planning to attend Nexus Christian Music Training College in September to do a voice course.
