Otters get their own heated pool

Otters have been given their own heated pool in their plush new home at Colchester Zoo. Otter Creek has been officially opened at the zoo for a group of six smooth-coated otters. The only other places these otters can be seen are Belfast Zoo and the Rare Species Conservation Centre in Kent.

Fisherman wowed by public support

A fisherman who nearly drowned when his boat sank says he has been overwhelmed by the public support since the drama. Kevin Hughes, 31, owner of Hughes’ Fish in Head Street, Colchester, says business has been booming since the incident in which he nearly died. He says members of the public have also been offering him money.
