Student wins national plumbing award
Student Tom King has picked up a national award for his plumbing skills. Tom, 24, an apprentice at the Grimsby Institute, has won the title of SkillPlumb Champion 2011, as part of the International WorldSkills competitions. He picked up the award at a ceremony in London in October. SkillPlumb, is the premier competition for aspiring plumbing apprentices in the UK. Cyclists of all ages turned up to take part in a bikeathon in aid of their local hospice. The annual family-friendly Falling Leaves Bikeathon was held at the start of October to raise money for the St Andrew’s Hospice, in Grimsby.

Athletes, coaches and other sporting heroes are being celebrated with glittering awards after being nominated by members of the public. The North East Lincolnshire Sports Association Awards (NELSA) are handed out for inspiring sporting characters in the region. The annual awards aim to recognise the hard work and talent of athletes in the area and are given out for 10 different categories.
