Political science graduate Nathan Neumann spends his days as an accounts manager and his nights as a wrestling star.
The 22-year-old, from Harrow, sits behind a desk all day, but comes alive at night when he performs as Nate Nitro – a cruiserweight American-style wrestler with British sporting company Total Action Wrestling (TAW).
TAW follows American entertainment wrestling style, mixing athletic skill with performance skills to provide a fun show.
Nathan said: “It’s really family oriented so there’s nothing too violent.”
Nathan, who is 5ft 7ins, regularly performs to crowds of over 200 in venues around Bedfordshire, Bucks and Herts.
He was also delighted to perform in his home borough when his troupe held an event in Pinner in October. The event, entitled Rumble on the Green, took place in Pinner Green Social Club and included a selection of colourful wrestling characters.
Nathan said: “They used to do a lot of wrestling in venues like Brent Town Hall, with stars like Steve Lee Curtis.”
He explained how he got into the sport: “I graduated a year ago, moved back to London and thought I’d take up wrestling, so I found a training school in Milton Keynes.”
This training facility is run by Steve Biggs, 34, from Harrow, who wrestles under the name Samson.
He said: “Nathan’s very exciting in the ring. He’s a smaller guy, so he’s more agile than the others, but he has a great physique, so he has the power too.
“There are all kinds of performers in there, from the likes of Nathan to camp, pantomime characters like Pretty Boy Brad Ford.”
