Sylvia Butler from Great Amwell is excited to have been nominated as a finalist in the 2011 Munch Time Storytelling Competition. Voters are supporting her online with her children’s story about a cow that has lost her voice.
The task was to write a children’s story beginning with the phrase “Once upon a Munch Time…” , and Sylvia’s story tells the tale of Cow Munch, who loses her voice, and regains it again, along with the help of the other farmyard animals.
The overall winner of the competition will win £1000 cash and have their story made into a print book, as well as have it published online on the Munch Bunch website. Runners up win £500 and will have their story published online. Sylvia is hopeful for her story’s success, which took her three weeks to complete. She was encouraged by daughter Sue to enter it into the competition.
If she wins the competition, she says she will be inspired to write more stories for children, and develop her skill.
Sylvia enjoys golfing and gardening, painting and drawing, as well as spending time with husband Jim, children Sue and James and grandchildren Alice, Emily, Lucy and Ben.
