Popcorn was the theme for a project done by students from Bishop’s Hatfield Girls’ School, where Hertfordshire businesses helped them manufacture, package and promote the product.
The two-day project is part of the annual Insight into Industry conference, which saw twelve businesses including Tesco, Veolia, Royal Mail and GlaxoSmithKline teaching the pupils about quality control, webpage design and product development.
The pupils ages 13 to 14 were able to design their own popcorn flavours and colours, and make them for themselves. The idea of the project was to give students an insight into the world of work, facing and overcoming the problems and challenges given to them. They took part in six different activities, of which making and flavouring the popcorn proved very popular. Pupils and advisors declared the event a success, enjoyed by all involved.
