Residents are being encouraged to get their walking or running shoes on to enjoy a new fitness trail.
The Burlish Top fitness trail, between Kidderminster and Stourport on Severn, has been created by Wyre Forest District Council. The project was funded with the help of Sport England.
The aim of the new trail is to get residents outdoors and promote a fit and healthy lifestyle in the district.
The track is one and a half kilometres long and is suitable for runners and walkers of different abilities. It is split into four sections and there are stations around the route giving advice about tackling each section, as well as stretching exercises.
The trail, which was opened in September, starts at the Kingsway in Stourport on Severn, where parking is available.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Wyre Forest District Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for community well-being, said: “The new fitness trail is a great way to get fit outdoors. As well as helping with your general feeling of well-being, it can help you de-stress and you can enjoy the changing seasons.
“We hope people will take up the challenge and keep coming back to enjoy it.”
The trail was launched during a community games day at Stourport Sports Club. Visitors were given free 30-minute taster sessions with a qualified fitness coach, including circuit training exercises and a cool down.
Wyre Forest District Council rangers also gave free guided walks on the open day for those wanting a more gentle introduction to the trail.
