Newport’s first food festival has been announced a huge success after attracting thousands of visitors. The city’s food festival took place at the end of October and proved very popular with residents and visitors.

University most haunted

Newport’s university has been named one of the country’s most haunted places to study. The University of Wales has featured in a recent top ten list, compiled by the Daily Telegraph newspaper. The university appears on the list alongside Oxford, Cambridge, Exeter, York, Royal Holloway, St Andrews, Brunel, Southampton and Durham.

Christmas ice-skating at city centre

Shoppers in Newport have enjoyed a spot of ice-skating in the city centre for the first time this year thanks to a festive ice rink. The rink was set up beside the Riverfront Theatre for three weeks in December with skating sessions for all ages and abilities. A marquee over the rink meant skating could take place whatever the weather.
