A revolutionary new procedure at Chigwell Osteopathy and Physiotherapy practice has meant that 42 year old Jason Cotter is now free from chronic back pain and sciatica that was caused by a degenerative disc disease.
“My back pain problems began in 2008. At the time I was referred for physiotherapy by my GP. I was given exercises but they didn’t help much; I still had severe shooting pains in my leg. In April this year I felt worse than ever; I was in such a bad way that my wife had to help me up the stairs.”
Intervertebral Differential Dynamics therapy was used by the clinic to help patients suffering from chronic back pain. It is the first clinic in the UK to offer the non-surgical treatment which offers an end to invasive procedures such as injections and surgery for those suffering from back pain.
Robert Shanks, the clinic’s director, is a back pain expert who decided to help Jason’s sciatica with a specialised programme that included IDD therapy. The precise, safe treatment draws apart specific spinal segments that have been damaged. This relieves pressure on the disc, helping the spine to get more movement and therefore leave the patient free from pain.
Robert Shanks said: “IDD isn’t a cure-all, but the results for many patients can be life-changing.”
It certainly has been life changing for Jason Cotter, who has been left virtually pain free after a month of treatment.
“My sciatica was so intense, I really didn’t think it would ever go but I feel like a different person now: I can walk properly and the pain has disappeared. I’m back at work now and I can’t wait to get back on the golf course!”
