New look for council

Residents should find it easier to get around thanks to a new council website.

Slough Borough Council has been given a new look online with its new site, designed to be more user-friendly.

Kate Pratt, Slough Borough Council’s communications manager, said: “In 2006 when the old website was created it was new and different.

“But the online world moves on very quickly and unfortunately the website became difficult to navigate for people and made it harder for them to find what they needed and do what they wanted online.

“Now we have a brand new site which is designed for the people we serve, easy to navigate, easy to use to report issues and much less crowded.

“We hope even more people will access council services online now.”

The site, which was launched in April, aims to use language that residents will find easy to understand and is designed to make it easier for people to find what they want, when they want it.

It has three sections, with the first one aimed at residents, the second one at businesses and the final one containing information about the council, such as councillor details and strategies, plans and policies.

It has also been designed to be fully accessible on mobile devices and smart phones.

The council said the work was done within existing budgets – with no extra money being spent.

Kate added: “Our thanks go to Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Direct Limited who kindly allowed us to reproduce their excellent designs in the building of our new site.”
