Battersea dogs were stars for an evening as they joined celebrities and royalty for a red carpet event.
Rescue dogs from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home formed a guard of honour on the red carpet for annual fundraising event the Collars and Coats Gala Ball.
The event took place at Battersea Evolution, in Battersea Park. The guest of honour was the charity’s president HRH Prince Michael of Kent and Princess Michael of Kent.
Celebrity Peter Andre was the host of the evening and other stars at the event included Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood, dance instructor Louis Spence, Fawlty Towers actress Prunella Scales, TV personality Donna Air and many more.
But it was the dogs in their smart collars that stole the show and gained plenty of oohs and aaahs from the guests.
Peter Andre said: “I’m so proud to have hosted Battersea’s Collars & Coats Gala Ball. Battersea is an amazing charity, which does incredible work to look after the animals that come into its care, helping them have happy futures in loving new homes.
“Walking up the red carpet past the Battersea dogs was an unforgettable experience and I hope this evening will show why this special charity needs our continued support.”
Donna Air said: “The dogs on the red carpet were amazing and so beautiful.”
Money was raised throughout the evening with a money-can’t-buy auction of gifts and experiences donated by some of the home’s supporters.
CEO of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Claire Horton, said: “Battersea is now in its 150th year of caring for lost, unwanted and abandoned animals and our Collars and Coats Gala Ball really shows why our charity has earned a place in the heart of the nation.”
