Paul and Beefy head out on epic walk

A man who is losing his sight is planning to walk to all 92 football league clubs in the hopes of raising £20,000 for charity. Paul Hodgkinson is planning on spending 18 weeks walking the 2,250 miles. The 44 year old from Wrenthorpe had to have his left eye removed following an accident when he was 13.

Biggest ever coal race sees runners battle it out

Matthew Wainwright managed to hold on to his coal carrying title at the 49th World Coal Carrying Championship that took place on 9th April in Gawthorpe. The 34 year old demonstrated his strength and endurance and crossed the line in just 4 minutes 34 seconds.

Alwyn’s loses half his body weight

A man has lost more than 15 stone and found a new lease of life after he had to be lifted out of a tanker by a crane. After years of fast food and takeaways, 60 year old Alwyn Thorpe was on the verge of a heart attack. His weight ballooned to 31 stone, leading to him giving up his job and later causing his family home to be repossessed as he struggled to keep up with the payments.
