Hepworth is a hit
Wakefield’s new art gallery The Hepworth is being hailed a huge success after its first summer. The gallery is now predicted to easily exceed initial targets for 150,000 visitors in its first year.

Asda shoppers were happy to jingle their change into charity tins instead of their pockets during a fundraising campaign for servicemen and women. Supermarket customers at the Asda store in Durkar, Wakefield, donated £2,150.25 to collection tins for the Help the Heroes campaign during two days in September. A further £571.20 was raised by selling merchandise, including car stickers and Christmas cards.

Nominations are needed for the next round of Hollywood-style stars in Wakefield’s pavements. Wakefield Council is honouring famous names from the city with star plaques in the paths.
