Ghostly Investigations

A paranormal team has investigated one of Aberdeen’s museums, and the city council says the results are interesting.

A team from Glasgow Paranormal Investigations paid a visit to the Tolbooth Museum in May.

The museum is one of Aberdeen’s oldest buildings. It was a gaol in the 17th century and has a history of gruesome medieval torture.

Chris Croly, historian with Aberdeen City Council, said: “It’s great to be working with Glasgow Paranormal Investigations, who recently conducted a very interesting investigation of the Tolbooth.”

Glasgow Paranormal Investigations carries out investigations in buildings where strange goings-on have been reported.

They spoke to members of the public about their findings at Tolbooth during an event at the museum entitled Paranormal Sunday. The team also talked about the equipment used by the investigators to record and capture ghostly goings-on.

It is not the first time ghostbusters have researched the building. In the past, unusual findings have included eerie breaths caught on camera, strange inexplicable singing sounds, the noise of jangling keys coming from the jailer’s room and dark shadows accompanied by ghostly footsteps.

Spooky evenings have also been held at the building for members of the public. In the last event, ghost hunter James Warrander, psychic medium Dawn Alexander and paranormal author Graeme Milne invited members of the public to join them and take part in a series of paranormal experiments, hear about the ghosts of the building and take part in a tour of the cells.
