Abi Uttley plays Cherry, a dancer who comes to Weatherfield looking for work at Terry Duckworth’s new lap dancing club. She mistakes the famous pub as the venue and performs a lap dance to the horror of the street’s busybody and gossip Norris Cole.

Eastenders star Barbara Windsor is thrilled with Bradford honour

Barbara Windsor was recalling happy memories of her time working in Bradford when she came to the city to receive a Lifetime Achievement award. The national treasure, who is the star of Carry On films and Eastenders was recognised at the Bradford International Film Festival for her work. The actress was interviewed by the festival’s co-director Tom Vincent before a screening of her 1964 film Sparrers Can’t Sing.

Yorkshire young farmers’ export drive backed by Keighley scooter firm

Young Farmers are starting a challenge that will see them travel from Yorkshire to Torquay on Freerider mobility scooters as part of their annual Yorkshire’s Greatest Export campaign. The participants will transport giant versions of their export products (potatoes and wool bearing sheep) to the 2012 Young Farmers’ annual meeting in Torquay.

National Media Museum – Bradford

The National Media Museum contains over 3.5 million items of historical and cultural importance in the world of film, photography, television, animation and news media. Located in the centre of Bradford, the museum is a celebration of cinema, television and photography and has seven permanent galleries, many with interactive features. There are also two regularly changing exhibition spaces.

Bradford IMAX

When the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television in Bradford opened its doors in 1983, one of its key features was the first ever IMAX theatre in the UK. At the time, it was also the largest cinema screen in the UK at five floors high and with six-channel sound. When the museum reopened after extensive refurbishment in 1999, the IMAX remained centre stage and was now equipped to show 3D films.

Bradford Cathedral

The site of Bradford Cathedral has been a place of Christian worship for well over a thousand years. In fact, its origins date back to Anglo-Saxon times, but the original church was destroyed by the Normans. The de Lacy Norman family subsequently took possession of the land and it was Alice de Lacy who constructed a second church in the 14th century, although this was destroyed by Scottish raiders invading Yorkshire. A Bradford nurse has won an Audi A1 in a local NHS prize draw. Katie South, who is a theatre sister at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, was given the keys to her new luxury car by trust chief executive, Bryan Millar.
