A Bradford nurse has won an Audi A1 in a local NHS prize draw. Katie South, who is a theatre sister at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, was given the keys to her new luxury car by trust chief executive, Bryan Millar.
The car was a great start to the New Year for the mother-of-two and also acted as an early wedding present.
47 year old Katie said: “I’ve never won anything before in my life, so when I got the call to say that I’d won the car I was over the moon and very excited.
“I’m getting married in February so this is a great surprise. When I called my partner, Mike, to tell him that I’d won the car he was speechless and didn’t believe me at first, but I think it is slowly starting to sink in.”
Katie is originally from Derby but has been working at Bradford Royal Infirmary for eight years and is a theatre sister in the hospital’s two general surgery theatres.
Katie won the prize after she entered the 50:50 staff lottery which is a staff scheme and also a registered charity. It is run by Bradford’s hospitals, Bradford District Care Trust and NHS Airedale, Bradford and Leeds.
