Angry Ely residents have called for local crows to be shot after wreaking havoc in the town. Many say that the rooks and crows nesting in trees in the Annesdale and Station Road area “spiralling out of control”, however the RSPB is asking for residents to appreciate the birds as part of British wildlife. Pedestrians and motorists have been complaining about the birds mess and residents in the area have said that the birds’ noise is “unbearable”.

Huge north Ely development application
The ambitious plans to develop the north-east area of Ely are coming closer to fruition. The development is being spearheaded by the Church Commissioners for England who applied to East Cambridgeshire District Council for planning permission so that 500 hundred new homes can be built at the east of the city’s Princess of Wales Hospital at Highflyer Farm.

Honour for top performers Greens and Robins
