One half of the duo that won the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 has dedicated the performance to her family living in Palmers Green.
Nigar Jamal, 30, who is known by the name Nikki, was born in Azerbaijan, but she now lives between Enfield and her home country with her husband Luke and two daughters.
During the Eurovision Song Contest, which was staged in Dusseldorf, Germany, she was representing Azerbaijan singing with 21-year-old Eldar Gasimov. They impressed the judges from across the world with their song entry Running Scared. The duo, who were among the favourites to win before the final, took the title easily in the end with 221 points.
Nikki, who has lived in Enfield for six years dedicated the win to her two little girls, saying: “This is everything I dreamed of and more.
“There were millions of people watching, but to be honest all I could think about was my two little girls watching our every step. I dedicated this performance to them.”
The UK celebrated one of its best results for many years getting 100 points with a performance by Blue. Ireland’s entry of Jedward beat Blue with 119 points.
