A former engineering works in nearby Wellworthy is set to be transformed into an area ideal for storage, industrial activity and other commercial use. The 17.5 acre site is part of Ringwood and has stood empty and dormant for almost 14 years. If plans for development go ahead then the site will create a lot of jobs for local people.
The site used to be home to Wellworthy Piston Rings, which was founded in 1943 and produced car and plane parts for almost fifty years before being shut down.
In a time where university fees have increased and unemployment is higher than it has been in years this new development couldn’t come at a better time. It is hoped that many new jobs and facilities will be created by this project and it is expected to benefit the entire community.
The mayor of Wellworthy welcomed the project and said that it will drastically improve local job chances in a time of economic instability.
