College wins energy saving award

A Warrington college has received an award at the National Tech World Awards in London for their work reducing energy consumption.

Warrington Collegiate won the Best Energy Efficiency Project award for their work reducing their carbon emissions by 24 tonnes. The awards recognise products and innovations in the IT and technology industry and were impressed by the college’s significant reduction in operating power by the college’s IT services and facilities departments.

They also won the Regional Support Centre Recognition of Innovation Award for their work to sustain environmental practices and improve energy efficiency.

Director of IT Services at the Collegiate, Nick Smeltzer, said: “We have worked very hard to develop sustainable practices for the future. At the college we are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint and absolutely over the moon with the results of the new programmes we’ve put in place.”
