Pupil’s Kindness And Character Wins Her Award

A pupil from Warrington’s Bruche Community Primary School has been recognised for supporting her family through a very hard time.

10-year-old Megan Hopwood won the citizenship award for her hard work in school and the support she has provided her family after the sad passing of her grandparents.

Chris Jones, who is Megan’s teacher said: “Megan was really close to her grandparents. Megan’s mum nominated her for the award because of how well she’s done at school.

“When her grandparents were in hospital, she would sit with other patients as well, telling them stories about her family and her pets. She would also write poems and read them to the other patients in the ward to cheer them up.”

The primary school’s administrator Karen Banister added: “Megan was heartbroken at the loss of her grandparents but has shown a real strength of character and we are all really proud of her.”
