Bury businesswoman Michelle Savage and her daughter Elisha have had their moment of fame after appearing on TV’s Dragons’ Den.
Michelle, who invented a beauty tool called Savvylash, used her daughter as a model during her pitch to the dragons. The show was aired at the end of September.
Michelle said: “It was the most nerve-wracking and exciting experience I’ve ever had, though it was lovely to share it with my daughter Elisha, who was my model for the day.”
The Savvylash is a tool that separates the eyelashes after mascara has been applied. It is sold via the company’s website, but Michelle was hoping one of the dragons would help her take her invention to the next level.
None of the dragons decided to invest in the business, although they were complimentary about the product.
During auditions for the show, Michelle said she praised Bury Library’s recently relaunched Business Information Service, which helped her to get her business started.
She said: “I’m indebted to the library service for the invaluable help they’ve given me over the years to start and grow my business. That help has led to me recently being filmed for Dragons’ Den. In fact, I was asked during the auditions for the TV show where I had gathered my business planning information from – I told them Bury Library.”
The information service has a database giving access to hundreds of business reports. Each report is 30-40 pages long and includes sections on market value, market forecast, market segmentation and leading companies.
Gary Phillips, information services librarian with Bury Council, said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer access to these high quality reports and we’re thrilled about Michelle’s success.”
