What's Happening in Colchester blog

National exhibition for local artist

A Colchester artist is celebrating after one of his paintings was chosen for a national exhibition.

31 year old Graham Webber’s painting ‘Flooded Footpath – Dedham’ put on display at the Lynn Painter-Stainers Prize Exhibition.

Over the last three months he has had his paintings accepted for the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Society of British Artists annual exhibitions.

Graham paints part or all of his work outside and ‘Flooded Footpath – Dedham’ is no exception.

“It was painted in the studio after a cold and rainy afternoon sketching and painting on location in and around Dedham” said Graham.

“By making several colour and reference studies outside the subject was still fresh in my mind and the painting was finished before I had even had a chance to dry off.

“It is great when you get the chance to paint something so immediate.”

The exhibition will be on display at the Mall Galleries, The Mall, London and will then tour to the WH Patterson Gallery, Albemarle Street, London.
