BBC go behind the scenes for Chatsworth documentary

The 12th Duke of Devonshire has allowed BBC cameras into his home for a behind the scenes look at the day to day goings on at Chatsworth House.

The three part series will be aired on BBC One and will be called ‘Chatsworth’.

The programme will follow the lives of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, the Dowager Duchess and members of the house’s 700 staff.

If you tune in you can see life in the stately home and across the estate including the gardens, farmyard, shops, holiday accommodation, pubs and restaurants.

Viewers will also meet key staff members including Heather Redmond Chatsworth’s first female head guide.

Heather said: “On my first day I was told that they would be filming, so the crews have followed my journey.

“It was nerve-wracking but I almost got used to it and forgot they were there.

“I’m a bit nervous about seeing myself on TV.

“I love working at Chatsworth House. The best bit about my job is chatting to people and teaching them new things about the house.

“Everyone was really friendly and chatty when we were filming.

“I hope people enjoy the series, see how it is in real life and find it funny, as well.”

Lewis Leybourne, a trainee catering supervisor, will also be featured in the series. The 23 year old from Matlock said that the filming had been exciting.

“I’ve been here since 2007 but, this last year, I was promoted.

“The crews filmed me doing my job and chatting to customers but I haven’t seen any of the footage yet.

“It’s a beautiful place to work and the experience has been brilliant.”

The film crew was able to film across the 30,000-acre estate during 2011.

Chatsworth has over a million visitors every year.
