Doctor Who fans were in for a treat with a themed fundraiser in Devon. Over 1,400 people got out their sonic screwdrivers and attended the charity day at Pecorama model railway exhibition at Beer, near Seaton. The event raised an estimated £4,000.
Stars from the BBC series at the event included the sixth Doctor Who, Colin Baker, former assistant Sarah Sutton and special effects wizard Matt Irvine. All three signed autographs and met fans, many of whom had dressed up as characters from the show including the famous Cybermen. There was even a rare appearance from the original robot-dog assistant, K9.
Andy Spencer, who organised the event, said: “You don’t know if people will come dressed up but thankfully they did – it really adds to the atmosphere and turns it into a big party.”
