Stately home set to host open-air Shakespeare

The Sand Elizabethan stately home in Sidbury is hosting a wonderful Shakespeare performance.

The Festival Players Theatre Troupe is performing the Taming of the Shrew and the aim of the show is to make Shakespeare accessible to all. The show at Sands is one of 60 other performances which the troupe are completing throughout Great Britain and Germany. It is their 26th annual tour.

The performance is set to benefit the historic house at Sand and the Soldiers’ Charity ABF which helps to support former soldiers and their families in the East Devon area. The charity pays out around £10,000 a year to servicemen and their families and that money goes to help with care home fees, rent contributions, home adaptations and maintenance.

If you would like to support ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, contact the regional director, Lt Col Alan Gorczyca at Wyvern Barracks, Exeter EX2 6AR, call 01392 492650, or e-mail southwest@soldierscharity.org.
