‘James Bond car’ driven by local man
One of the most famous cars in movie history was once driven around Mirfield, near Huddersfield. George Silverwood, a former mechanic at the Central Garage in Mirfield, has told of how the Aston Martin that was made famous in the 1964 film Goldfinger was driven through the town two years after its first starring role.

The popular and celebrated Mrs Sunderland Festival of Music, Speech and Drama has become part of the very fabric of Huddersfield. The festival is keeping up with the times by adding new classes so that adults and children can get their creative juices flowing. Grange Moor artist Jim Bond is making his Huddersfield Art Gallery debut after having some of his sculptures displayed in some of the world’s best galleries. Jim’s work has recently been exhibited at the British Art Now exhibition at London’s prestigious Saatchi gallery as well as the Royal Scottish Academy and the prestigious Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
