Italian trio get a taste of Yorkshire

Students Elia Nucera, Lucizezia Baldini and Nicola Verdini from Senigallia in north east Italy are enjoying experiencing life in Yorkshire.

The three Italian students have been spent a few weeks learning about hospitality and tourism in Yorkshire, courtesy of Kirklees College and the Galpharm Stadium.

They were gaining work experience for the course that they are completing in Italy.

Gary Schofield, from the college said: “We’ve taken trips to Senigallia in the past and so we have a good relationship with the college there. They thoroughly enjoyed their experience and found it really worthwhile.”

The students visited many places in the North and Yorkshire included Whitby, Scarborough and Manchester and they even experienced Huddersfield nightlife with some of the Kirklees students.

Lucizezia passed her World Host customer service qualification while at Kirklees College.

She said: “I really enjoyed working at the football club and coming into college. The best bit was meeting the football players and going to Whitby where I touched the North Sea!”

Nicola and Elia got some experience working as servers at the Galpharm and the college’s Chameleon Restaurant and Portland Bistro.

Nicola said the thing that he won’t forget from his trip is the fish and chips at Whitby.

Elia said, “The best bit about the trip for me has been the people. Everyone is so friendly, Yorkshire seems like a really nice place to live and work. I would definitely come back.”
