Auction for Historic Huddersfield Town FA Cup Final programmes

They cost just a sixpence or 2.5p when they were first sold, but now two 1928 Huddersfield Town v Blackburn Rovers FA Cup final programmes are set to fetch a pretty penny.

84 years on, it is expected that the programmes will sell for around £500 each.

It sounds like a lot, but the programmes would fetch a lot more if they were in better condition. One pristine 1928 FA Cup final sold for £800 not so long ago.

The programmes will be sold at Graham Budd Auctions at Sotheby’s in London and are predicted to fetch between £550 and £650 and between £450 and £550.

The programme that is thought to sell for a higher price has “a fairly light vertical fold” and “rusty staples have been removed” but the auctioneers have said that otherwise it is in “overall good” condition.

The less expensive programme has “light folding” and is “a little grubby” but overall it is in “reasonable condition.”

It may all sound over zealous, but the condition of the football programmes is very important to serious collectors.
