Chamber’s Cheryl receives palace honour
A “once in a lifetime” experience is how the chief executive of the Bedfordshire Chamber of Commerce described receiving her MBE at Buckingham Palace. Cheryl Smart has spent 25 years working for the chamber and started working there to help export businesses. She has made a name for herself for her work taking businesses to many different countries around the world, some of which are known for their lack of hospitality towards women. Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran was one of the star’s joining graduates at the University of Bedfordshire graduation ceremonies. The keyboard player from the famous 80s chart toppers was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Arts for his work in the music industry as a songwriter, producer and performer.
