Pilgrim’s progress for new bishop

Luton was the first stop for new Bishop of Bedford, the Rt Rev Richard Atkinson, during his mini pilgrimage after his consecration at St Paul’s Cathedral. On his visit he met Luton mayor councillor Syd Knight and the town’s faith leaders. The visit started with prayers St Mary’s and ended 18 hours later at St Paul’s in Bedford.

MBE for ‘Inspirational’ Jenny Moody

Her amazing work on behalf of abused women has won Jenny Moody an MBE and a private visit from Princess Diana, but the fearless and passionate charity worker is now stepping down from Luton Women’s Aid; the charity which she started. Jenny started her organisation almost 40 years ago and stepped down from the charity in November. It is only now, months on, that she feels able to talk about her tough decision to leave.

Weighing in for a good cause

A 20kg training vest may be nothing compared to the weight of responsibility carried by Keech Hospice Care staff every day; but it is a good way for Lee Moynes to raise awareness for the hospice and a charity challenge that he is completing in October.
