Construction Workers’ Charity Skydive

A group of construction workers helping to renovate the RNIB Pears Centre, formerly the RNIB Rushton School and Children’s Home near Bedworth, decided to raise funds for the organisation by throwing themselves out of a plane. They thought that doing a tandem skydive would be a great way to raise some much needed money for the school. The daring group was made up of Shepherd Construction’s David Critchlow, Kerri Harris, Andy Astley, Steve Green, Gavin Green, Marc Williams, Craig Sharples, Wayne Smith, Jon Ball, Steve Sharples, Lee Sharples, Georgie Cook and Russ Forshaw, and they hope to raise more than £5,000 for the fund.

They jumped out from 10,000 feet to help the school’s improvements, which include a children’s home and specialist school. It already provides facilities for young people who are blind or partially-sighted such as individually tailored education, care and therapy.

The construction team say their time working on the facility has given them an insight into the children and care team at the school, and the impact their work has had on them.

“This is why we want to give back, and try to raise as much money as possible to support these children and to ensure others get the opportunity to benefit from the support the RNIB provides across the UK”.
