Nurturing School Awarded

Stockingford Infant School is pleased to have been honoured with the Marjorie Boxall Quality Mark Award. The Cross Street School is among only a few in the country to receive the award, which has been given to recognise the work they do providing opportunities for children and their families.

The award exemplifies the hard work and dedication that has been put in by the teachers and support staff, who had to become accredited to become eligible for the programme, and shows that it has paid off. The school was assessed by an inspector who worked with teachers and pupils for a day to see their work in action.

The award is inspired by the work of Marjorie Boxall, who was an educational psychologist behind the development of nurture groups. She worked in inner London schools in the 1960s, with children with behavioural issues, and came up with her ideas based on her experience with them.

The whole school are signed up to the national nurture group principles, supporting the aim of the group so they could become accredited.
