Former and current scouts have celebrated 40 years of having fun and of course bring prepared.
Over than 200 young and old members of the 8th Fulwood Scout Group met up to share stories over a traditional Lancashire hot pot lunch.
The group was first founded in February 29, 1972 and there are currently 60 young members who are supported by 12 adult leaders and helpers.
John Woods was a member of the cubs in 1985 and said: “Scouting has changed such a lot since I first joined. There are so many more opportunities now, there’s something for everyone.
“Having said that, the core values are still the same, doing your best, being prepared for whatever life throws at you and putting others before yourself. It’s a great recipe for life.”
Group leader Ian Mulholland said: “I can’t believe it’s been going for 40 years.
“It just goes to show that fun and challenging activities are just what young people want and Scouts can offer that in abundance. I hope it keeps going for another 40 years.”
Scout Eleanor McGowan said: “I love coming to Scouts.
“My friends are often jealous when I tell them what I’ve been doing at Scouts, things like camping and pancake making. We’re always doing different things and I’ve got loads of Scout friends, it’s great.”
