Macdonald Hotels and Resorts invest £5m

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, which claims to be the UK’s biggest privately-owned hotel group, has announced its plans to invest £5m across its hotel, conference and meeting space portfolio.

The group has over 45 hotels in its collection and the investment will be spread across many hotels in the group. The bedrooms have already been refurbished at the five-star Macdonald Randolph Hotel in Oxford and four-star Macdonald Alveston Manor in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Macdonald Tickled Trout Hotel in Preston have been given a £500,000 investment for the complete refurbishment of the ground floor. The money will be used to installation free Wi-Fi internet access, a new reception, a Costa Coffee lounge and a Scottish Steak Club restaurant which is a signature grill of The Macdonald Hotels group. Work is expected to be finished in late December 2012.

The business are also investing in their systems and IT infrastructure with the integration of an IDeaS revenue management system across all of the Macdonald hotels. The company is also planning on improving the bandwidth availability for a faster Internet connection for their guests.

Chief Executive of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, David Guile said: “Ongoing investment in our hotel portfolio, conference facilities, food, IT infrastructure and carbon saving initiatives, reflects a firm commitment to ensure guests can expect and receive the quality of hospitality experience expected of a market leading hotel group.”
