Stephanie Effiom, a former pupil at St Albans Girls’ School (STAGS ) has described performing with Marcus Collins on The X Factor as both a privilege and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Stephanie met Tulisa’s dog backstage and was called “honey” by judge Kelly Rowland when she performed on the popular show’s Movie themed night.
The 19 year old former head girl had to sign a declaration that prevents her from divulging details about her time at the show, but she said that it was an amazing experience.
Stephanie used to sing with the gospel choir at STAGS and then started singing with the King’s College London gospel choir.
She explained: “I was contacted by the organiser of the University Gospel Choir of the Year competition, in which my own choir won the runners-up prize, and she said that X Factor would like us to perform with Marcus.
“The entire day was so busy but everyone made us feel so welcome. We met the judges, the contestants, even Tulisa’s dog and they were all so nice.”
Her day at the show began with a briefing, and then she had choreography and song lessons. The choir all met Dermot O’Leary, but Stephanie said that the highlight of the day was definitely performing alongside Marcus.
Stephanie said: “We were told to really bring the energy almost to the point of being OTT.
“I feel so proud and privileged to have partaken in such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Her former assistant head teacher at STAGS, John Doyle, said that he was very happy to see Stephanie doing so well.
