Classmates of Barnaby Harper and Isabella Carter were surprised when they heard their friends’ voices on the television. The pair has been chosen to be the voices for new characters in the Cloudbabies programme.
Barnaby and Isabella both go to Norris Bank Primary School in Heaton Norris, Stockport and are going to be playing Bobo White and Baba Pink.
Cloudbabies follows four childlike characters –Baba Pink, Baba Blue, Baba Yellow and Baba Green – who look after their sky friends Sun, Moon, Rainbow, Fuffa Cloud and Little Star.
The pupils were given a sneak peek of the programme which will be shown on CBeebies which stars Barnaby, five, and eight-year-old Isabella.
Reception teacher Nikki Simcock said: “Barnaby and Isabella loved showing the programme to their friends, who were all engaged by the storyline. We are pleased children from the school have been involved.”
The series was animated by Manchester-based Studio Liddell and directed by Barnaby’s father Tim Harper.
He said: “The children absolutely loved it – they were transfixed. We knew we wanted to cast children for the voices, and everyone just completely fell in love with Barnaby’s voice.
“Isabella is the daughter of a family friend and I have always thought she has a unique voice. She went through the audition process having never done anything like this before and she just got it from day one.
“We wanted to use accents in the show, so other characters are from across the north west region, including Blackpool, Wigan and Huddersfield. The first show has now also out for real on CBeebies and the comments have been really positive. The official launch will be in May or June.”
Cloudbabies is aimed at pre-school children and works to introduce facts about the elements.
