Bournemouth University student volunteering for mum

A Bournemouth student who saw his mum’s struggle with aggressive bowel cancer, will be working as a volunteer at this year’s Race for Life in both Bournemouth and Poole. 26 year old Cameron Johnson will be volunteering with a team of other men and women who will oversee the events to make sure that they go smoothly.

Charity parachute jump for grandad and grandson

A 74 year old former RAF pilot has fulfilled a lifelong ambition and jumped out of a plane with his 19 year old grandson, all for charity. Terry Adcock and his grandson Mo Guy dived from a height of 13,000ft in aid of Parkinson’s UK.

Bournemouth’s music academy officially opened by Level 42’s Mark King

A new music college was officially opened by the one of the UK’s biggest rock stars. Mark King from Level 42, a patron for Bournemouth’s Academy of Contemporary Music Regional cut the ribbon at the new academy. Over 150 excited music fans came to get a look at the Academy and see Mark perform ‘Running in the Family’ with some ACMR students.

£70k National Lottery win for Poole building firm syndicate

A lottery syndicate is celebrating after winning £70,191. The lucky nine members of the ‘Lotter Loonies’ syndicate at Hamworthy building firm Stepnell Ltd in Poole matched five numbers and a bonus ball to win the Lotto windfall.

Christmas Day swim

Bournemouth based swimming club the Spartans took to the water at Boscombe for a fancy dress dip on Christmas Day. The annual event saw dozens of brave souls head to the waters in a variety of fancy dress outfits including a wolf, a pirate, sailors, a unicorn, a princess, Dennis the Menace, Victorian swimmers and even some swimmers in Christmas outfits.

Sea bass seen at Mudeford Quay

Brothers Tom and Sam Farwell from Muscliff were surprised when they caught a sea bass while out crab fishing with their Granddad at Mudeford Quay. The two boys, aged eight and five, had only been fishing once before but knew they were in for a special surprise when they saw a large fish circling their line.

Frayed passport stops man who overcame fear of flying

It was an unfortunate case of irony when a man who overcame a 15 year fear of flying was not allowed to catch a flight due to the frayed edge of his passport. Greg Howe, 37, was planning on taking a trip to the Monaco grand Prix to celebrate conquering his fear. Amazing Lulworth Castle Antiques Roadshow discovery

The Antiques Roadshow uncovered a great deal of historical items and hidden treasures when it came to Lulworth Castle. The experts even uncovered a jug that was made from Oliver Cromwell’s horse, thought to be worth thousands. A young couple brought along what they thought was an old leather jug, but it turned out to be an amazing find that was worth between £20,000 and £30,000.
